Jamie Redknapp: ‘I’ll never get Romelu Lukaku celebration snub’
Jamie Redknapp has said that he will “never understand” Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku‘s option not to celebrate his goal in the club’s 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.
Lukaku, who netted his second goal in as many games, chose not to celebrate with his teammates following his header, which opened the scoring at the Hawthorns.
Sky Sports pundit Redknapp appeared frustrated at the forward’s decision when analysing the game.
“When he gets the right delivery, he’s unstoppable,” the former Liverpool man said. “It’s a great header, just turns his head, nods it into the net.
“I don’t get the non-celebration, I’ll never understand that. Whether he’s been unhappy with the criticism he’s been getting, it’s irrelevant.
“You are paid big money to affect games for Manchester United. Not celebrating a goal? I’d give anything to go and score goals again. And he’s there and he doesn’t want to celebrate it, I’ll never get it.”
West Brom midfielder Gareth Barry pulled a goal back for the Baggies, but manager Alan Pardew was left waiting for his first win in charge of the club.
